Alaska is a state in the United States of America, in the northwest of the North American continent. It is the largest U.S. state by area (by a substantial margin), and one of the wealthiest (per capita) and most racially diverse.

It is on the far left/to the far west of Canada, which some Canadians are a little annoyed about, since Alaska, like Hawaii is not on the so-called "mainland", and therefore should not be part of the United States.

The governor of Alaska is Sean Parnell, after Sarah Palin stepped down on July 3rd, 2009.
