Henderson place

The Henderson house is a delapidated building situated in Orlando, Florida. It's namesake was the eccentric architect H.S. Henderson, who once maintained it as his working residence in Orlando.

The House

Once somewhat grandiose, the house commonly refered to as the "Henderson Place" long ago fell into an irreversable state of disrepair. No move has been made yet to even attempt a renovation project, due to the many tales and legends surrounding the foreboding building. These ghost stories, while obviously the products of the overactive imaginations of the local population, have had a disturbing reputation of coming true.

It's time of construction is a matter of conjecture among the Historical Society, though certain clues point to a date somewhere between 1955 and 1960. However, it's namesake H.S. Henderson did not inhabit it until the late 1970's, when he was brought in by city officials to start work on a nearby subdivision. The house was abandoned in the mid-90's after Henderson's failed suicide attempt, which left the house in the state it can be seen in today. When asked why he had stuck his head in the gas cooker while smoking a cigar, Henderson replied in his characteristic dry humour, saying that he was "feeling a mite chilly".
