From Omnictionary
John Michael Green was born August 24, 1977 in Orlando, Florida.
He is the author of young adult fictions Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, and Looking for Alaska. He also co-authored Will Grayson Will Grayson with David Levithan and Let It Snow with Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. Green has also written for National Public Radio's All Things Considered, for Chicago's public radio station, WBEZ, and for the now defunct internet magazine KnotMag, and a short story in the book Geektastic. He finished writing his recent novel "The Fault In Our Stars" from which he reads the occasional chapter on he and his brothers YouTube channel.
Green attended Indian Springs school, a boarding and day school outside of Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Kenyon College in 2000 with a double major in English and Religious Studies. His first book, Looking for Alaska, was largely inspired by his time at Indian Springs School.
Green lived for several years in Chicago, where he worked for Booklist Magazine, a book review journal, and reviewed hundreds of books of all varieties.
John Green is married to Sarah (also known as "The Yeti" in his vlogs, due to her request not to be seen on camera) and is brother to Hank Green. John has one son, Henry Green.
John Green and his brother Hank run a video blog project called Brotherhood 2.0. The original project ran from January 1 to December 31, 2007, during this time the brothers would cease all text-based ("textual") communication for the year and instead converse by video blogs, made available to the public via YouTube (where they are known as the "vlogbrothers") and on "the Nerdfighter Ning". They were also allowed to communicate via phone calls. Throughout the years, they have continued and evolved said project in different ways over the years. 'vlogbrothers' started the nerdfighters -- a group of nerds around the world who fight against World Suck.
