Biography
John Green was born in Indianapolis, Indiana (where he now lives with his wife, Sarah Urist Green, who is also known as the Yeti for her reluctance to appear on camera) on August 24, 1977. He grew up in Florida before attending a boarding school, Indian Springs School, in Alabama; he has been cited saying that this high school bears much physical resemblance to Culver Creek High School, the most predominant setting of his first novel, Looking for Alaska. His brother is Hank Green, who is known to take many different physical forms, but only one brand of awesome, and has said that his parents are "nerds," simultaneously thanking and blaming them for his present-day self-proclaimed nerdiness.
He graduated from Kenyon College in 2000 with a double major in Religious Studies and English. After this he worked for six months as a children's chaplain in a hospital, an experience which inspired his first novel, Looking for Alaska. After that he worked for a magazine called Booklist writing book reviews while he lived in Chicago, Illinois.
He has been dumped by someone(defined by him as having held someone's hand and then wanting to hold their hand again, but being rejected, thus qualifying a number of elementary school classmates as "dumpers") 53 times, including [the Yeti], before marrying his "ridiculously awesome" wife, Sarah Urist Green, a contemporary art curator. He proposed to her with a signed book by a mutual favorite author, whom he invited to their wedding (although said author declined the invitation).
He is the author of three books, has contributed to WPEZ radio and NPR's (National Public Radio) "All Things Considered," wrote one of the stories from Let it Snow, written with Maureen Johnson and Laureen Myracle, and contributed a short story to the collection titled "21 Proms." He and his brother are collaborators for the YouTube-based vlog "Brotherhood 2.0."

Nerdfighters want to Name John's Next Book
Nerdfighteria
John is sometimes referred to as a King of Nerdfighteria, reportedly (potentially) based in the town Winner, South Dakota (the midpoint between John's home in Indianapolis and Hank's home in Missoula). He is one of the co-founders of this figurative kingdom, having conceived of the idea which made the nerdfighter community exist, organized around the dual purposes of celebrating nerdiness and fighting suck.
Nerdfighteria is based at "the Ning". Other important mainstays of the kingdom of Nerdfighteria are the Foundation to Decrease Worldsuck and the Evil Baby Orphanage.
Miscellaneous
He has been known to express a desire for a puppy-sized elephant, only to discover that evolution had given him one, albeit several thousand years before his time. Humans then killed them.
He owns a "cutetacular" nerdfighting puppy, Willy, aka Bubbles the Nerdfighting Puppy. Willy's full name is Fireball Wilson Roberts, a name taken from the novel The Last Good Kiss.
