Lashonda

Long before the eye patches, Lashonda led a sheltered life. Her parents were descended from a long line of wealthy black families in Atlanta, Georgia. They had been in power long before being black was cool.

Her family supposedly stemmed from a long line of famous pirates, who had uncovered American riches before the settlers had even finished unpacking. And from those riches, her ancestors built the power and wealth that they were known for. They influenced Atlanta politics and changed the geography of Atlanta in many ways.

So saying she led a sheltered life is a bit of an understatement. She grew up as an only child, and often had only her stuffed animals to keep her company. Her parents hired her nannies and home school teachers, but those adults never really filled the gap that friends were supposed to.

And so she began to day dream. And the more she dreamed, the more her own power grew. But it was never a power that her parents would have believed in. It was a power that she barely believed her self. It had a name. And it made her beautiful.
