Margo's Mother, Elizabeth Roth is a conservative Christian whose faith condemns dancing, just like the town in Footloose.
Margo's Father, Harry Spiegelman Esquire, is dead. While he was alive he was a closeted homosexual who struggled with the decision of whether to come out or not. He died of skin cancer, having lived in Florida for all his life, being extremely pale and being deathly allergic to all forms of sunscreen known to mankind.
The two were married in 1988, two years before their daughter, Margo's birth. The couple had two miscarriages before they were finally able to have Margo. When Margo was two, her father was hospitalized for his skin cancer, where he fell in love with a male nurse, causing his struggle with his sexuality. He died after six months of on-and-off hospitalizations.
His last words to Margo were, "Daddy still loves you."
