When he woke the next day, the screen was still blank - a bad sign. It was a sign that he would have to wait another day for Katherine. He was alone in the world, with no one to play Ninjas and Pirates. He really needed his World Wide Web Girl now!

Sam always preferred to be a ninja. It could be because of his childhood, and his beloved ninja toys, or because ninjas got to wear all black. Katherine, on the other hand, loved pirates. More than anything, she loved their eye patches and wore one herself constantly. Sam thought she was the most interesting girl he'd ever met, but she hadn't been online in a few days. Little did Sam know, that Katherine wouldn't be online anytime soon. She was quite busy in her very own World Wide Web of Trouble.

Glancing at his aforementioned watch, Sam realized he must, as many of his customers would say, "make like a banana and split". Sam walked into his small cramped bedroom, the carpet a moldy green color and the walls plastered in Star Wars memorabilia. He donned his familiar black polo, clipped on his name tag, and headed to the Movie Center.

Most people would not recognize Sam as anyone special, so it came as a shock to him, as he stood behind the counter at the Movie Center, when a new face came up and said to him "Excuse me, but is your name Sam?"

Sam was baffled and replied "Um... yes. I don't mean to be rude but, who are you?" The old man chuckled then sighed "I didn't expect you to remember me; the last time I saw you, you were a baby!" At this point Sam was quite confused. Surely "Sam" is a very common name, 25th on the SSA list, but how would he recognize me if I was only a baby at the time? It seemed quite preposterous to him.

"Who are you again?" Sam asked. Now feeling stupid, he noticed that he was wearing a name tag and determined that this old guy had probably snuck out of Lively Acres, the nursing home from across the street. Then quietly, in a voice as soft as a whisper, yet without the secretive nature that comes along with whispering, the old man said, "My name is Sam too. They call me Old Man Sam."

The old man began to explain that he was an older version of young Sam, visiting from the future. He told Sam that he had to save the young girl, the red-headed girl. Unfortunately, he was a little "insane-sounding" at the time. And as good timing goes, his two least favorite security guards in the world chose this exact minute to come into the store.

When they saw the old man flailing about, they opted to escort the old man from the scene. They dragged him from the Movie Center and were soon out of earshot.
