“The Passion I have for Fish” Is a romantic comedy novel written by William S. Wright in the early 1980’s.. This type of comedy was cutting edge for this time period. The story is known for its witty humor and enjoyable characters. The book did not make a “splash” and only one hundred copies were put into print. This book was seen as a disappointment as it strayed from his usual style.
Overview:
The Novel begins with Harold William MCdruble discovering his wife missing upon waking up one morning. Not only is she missing---but all proof of her existence is missing also. Her clothes are gone, her shoes, her make up, she is even missing from the photographs taken of her. Harold knows that he wasn’t imagining his wife; the lovely creature couldn’t have been an invention of his imagination. To try and clear his mind he finds himself down by the lake, one of his wife’s favorite spots. While walking he notices a fish that follows his path around the lake. The man starts talking to this fish, and begins to hallucinate that the fish is talking back Everyday Harold MCdruble returns to find the fish there swimming around. Harold is soon convinced that lake spirits have taken his wife and turned her into the fish that he has been talking to every day is his missing wife.
