A theory posited in the novel Tolerance For Temporality by noted author and creator of Omnictionary, William S. Wright The Xbox theory posits that all enjoyable things in the universe must be contained in an ideal space from which reflections of them spring into our reality. These 'X factors' are inherently corrupted by the baser matter into which they are reflected, and thus become the ordinary, (but still somewhat superior to boring) delights that populate our universe. If one was to reach into the 'Xbox', one could supposedly pull forth the substance of pure enjoyment, but this would rapidly become tainted by our corrosive reality. This theory is posited in the novel by Alf Hertpew after his incarceration in a mental institution. It is purported that Xbox theory is the x in Randal Monroe's titular acronym xkcd, along with the many strange products produced under a preceding X.
